Migma Magazine
Migma’s mission is to find connections between different cultures and explore how those cultures have influenced each other over time. This issue of Migma magazine focuses on the different cultures that have shaped Greece, which is echoed in the feature article, Breaking Down the Wall of Lies. This article explores Spinalonga, an obsolete leper colony off the coast of the island of Crete, which was inhabited by both the Turks and the Greeks. Both cultures left remnants of different architectural styles on the island. The spread mimics the look and feel of a long-forgotten diary, layering visual elements and texture to elude to the passage of time. Some of the images used are symbolic and become visual metaphors for the destruction of ancient civilizations, such as a cannon breaking apart the typography and the display of antique coins.
